How long does a Crown / Cap last?
Many factors are involved in the success of a crowned (capped) tooth. The
quality of the material, the condition of the gum and bone, the decay
susceptibility of the patient, as well as avoidance of accidents are all
very important. A crown could last a lifetime or succumb quickly if one of
the above factors is weak.

Are white fillings as good as silver fillings?
White fillings for front teeth have always been the treatment of choice.
For back teeth, the
white fillings have improved dramatically. While they do not last quite as
long as a silver filling- yet. There are some characteristics which make
them better than silver fillings. They are superior esthetically, less
natural tooth structure needs to be drilled (removed) by the dentist, the
white filling is bonded to the tooth. These last two characteristics
actually makes the tooth stronger than if it were filled with a silver
filling. In addition, many patients request white fillings because they do
